Just over one week to go to help!!
Proceeds from Port Cares Spring Ka-Ching 50 50 Lottery will enables charity to purchase food for food bank distribution
Port Cares the leading charity assisting people in need in south Niagara is relying on its Port Cares Spring Ka-Ching 50 50 draw for funds to purchase food for the local food bank.
The Port Colborne based charity’s12th 50-50 draw takes place on Friday, May 31st at 2 p.m. helping to fund Port Cares Reach Out Centre and Food Bank which is currently assisting nearly 3,000 low income local residents of Port Colborne and Wainfleet. The lottery jackpot is hovering at $12,000 for the winner with just over a week to go.
“We are in very difficult times. Low income households are struggling to get by and middle income earners have less and less to share. We see it every day as more people come to us for help while at the same time the volume of food donation is less and less. There simply isn’t enough to go round when people are trying to get by with the same level of income and the cost of groceries and housing has never been higher,” explains Christine Clark Lafleur, Chief Executive Officer of Port Cares.
Port Cares is a charity and relies on fundraising and donations to help households experiencing poverty. “We are grateful for the support we receive from our community, donors and supporters including those who support our 505 50lottery, “ adds Clark Lafleur noting that Port Cares ability to help people is solely reliant on fundraising and donations. “We do not receive government funding when it comes to our crisis intervention and food security services.””
The biggest draw winner so far took home almost $43,000 and the total for all 11draws held since the lottery began $353,185 has been won through jackpot winnings and another $25,600 in early bird prizes. Isabell Lott of Port Colborne was the latest winner taking home $24,695 on New Year’s Day. The guaranteed winning purse is $5,000 and an early bird spring clean package worth $500
Will be drawn on May 15th. The grand prize will be drawn on May 31, 2024at 5 p.m.
